Happy day with happy ending

Another weekend ahead. After another quite exhausting week in the office, when things got somehow twisted and some more changes have been made. But generally was it to everybody’s content. But about that maybe in some other post.

Today is about having a good time. And there no better time than on the beach with the purple monster flying above J For Thursday and Friday the forecast was excellent. Around 16 knots whole day. Perfect!!

Unfortunately I couldn’t go Thursday evening, because I still don’t have my own car. Having the gear in the pickup and letting it drive all day around the construction site wouldn’t make anybody happy. And anyway…I had to stay in the office up to 5:30 so was no chance how to use the wind that day.

With feeling that I am loosing something I decided to wake up at 3am on Friday and drive to Abu Dhabi beach to see the sunrise and be kiting from the very morning. He did as he said and at around 7am I was already in the water J

It was simply amazing. No waves, strong wind…so suddenly everything I’ve been trying before without much success and with a lot of frustration now WORKED. Dive down, dive up, stand on the board and ride J Piece of cake!!

When first other people came around 9am I was already riding back and forth to the same place and when Rune and company arrived around 11am I was riding far and back even without falling when turning. Still I have to improve my stand, but I was already thinking how to jump J Happy day

When you are riding without falling into the water, you don’t even feel cold because the sun is of course shinnig. Anyway at 1pm I went for a break after almost five hours out there and let Ahmed, Jenny, Rune, Imke and Harry on the far end of the beach. After one hour I was about to launch again when I saw Rune carrying his kite and going towards me on the beach. “How you’re doin’ man?” I asked him. “I am doing fine but we lost Imke!!”. Imke in her kite excitement went too far from the edge of the peninsula, fell down and direct onshore wind was dragging her into the long bay.

Ahmed and Harry went after her swimming and on kite, meanwhile me and Rune we wanted to start the rescue action with my truck. But as in these situations when you really need something happens, we got stuck in the sand J Truck really is not for offroading with only rear wheel drive. But luckily with my digging and Rune’s driving skill we lost maybe 15 minutes when we got out.

We drove to the other side of the peninsula to the dock. From there we saw something black floating in the sea. ”It has to be her!!” Rune shouted. “Oh and there is a boat”. There really was an Arab with a motor boat. “So fortunate” I thought. But as in these situations when you really need something happens, the engine was not working!! After few minutes of trying it started. “Uff…lucky”.

But the trouble was not over. Even with the engine running, the steering was broken!! So this boat was useless. “Look, there is a guy with a jet ski” said the Arab man and started shouting on him in Arabic. After another few minutes when we also saw somebody swimming to the black thing we supposed that it was Imke’s kite, the jet ski charged to her and came back. “They say everything is under control. They will swim” was the report.

So far so good. Ahmed and Harry reached Imke and were helping her drag everything safely against the current to the land. Everything means people and kite. Unfotunately the board was lost somewere in mangroves. Happy ending J

Knockin' on career's door

“Auto CAD sucks”. I think that everybody who ever has been drawing in 3D will agree. So one of the things that helped me to decide whether sign for Envac was, although it was an unofficial rumor, that there would be a possibility to get promoted from a designer to a chief of design.

But when I came I almost instantly forgot about it, because I liked designer work. It was fun to de designing whole pipe network or equipment placement according to your ideas and style. There was a bit of me there. I enjoyed it despite frequent fights with that stupid and user unfriendly piece of software. However we found some common understanding lately so we were not at war that often J I settled in my position and relaxed observed how others are going to meet some tiresome people and have long pointless discussions with them meanwhile I was sitting behind the screen eating cookies. Easy J

But a week ago Herman and Kabeer came to me and Herman said “You know that we just borrowed Kabeer from Dubai office?”. “No!” I replied with feeling that something was about to happen. “I decided to return back to Dubai” stated Kabeer, “And you know, somebody has to take over his job!” added Herman and both looked at me smiling. So before I could fully enjoyed AutoCAD wars I got where rumors wanted me from the beginning.

That means that from this week “You call me Sir”, “You draw whatever I tell you to” and “You will be eating cookies meanwhile I will go to meet some tiresome people and have a long pointless discussion with them” J
